Edwina Cowell

Founding Mother and CVO of Spiritual Playdate and SpiritualPlaydate.com, Edwina Cowell,
has developed an innovative global platform to teach love, acceptance, and respect from home,
houses of worship, schools, or anywhere, through Social, Emotional, and Spiritual Life Skill
sessions. She has done this in partnership with cultural, academic, SEL, and child development
experts, as well as faith educators, clergy, and peace advocates from around the globe.
Edwina and her team have developed a broad range of engaging and inclusive digital resources
for parents, teachers, youth ministers, and children with topics ranging from Connectedness,
World Religions, The Golden Rule, Forgiveness, Gratitude, Justice, Anti-Bullying, Love, Living
and Dying, Sacred Spaces, Spiritual Teachers, and many more.
While Edwina's passion is spiritual dialogue, mental wellness, and peace education for children,
she is a wholehearted listener and learner. She understands the obstacles and pitfalls we
encounter when presenting faith to kids. Her conviction is that steeping our children in a
religious ideology without context does not serve them and often thwarts critical thinking skills.
She feels strongly that when it comes to faith, we would be better off if we had a basic
understanding of the world's belief systems and a more realistic worldview of spiritual ideas and
practices and the many coping skills that sprang from them. This belief gave rise to the inclusive,
interfaith, and Socratic approach used in the Spiritual Playdate Program. Her program is
designed to explore those issues without stepping on personal faith traditions. More importantly,
Spiritual Playdate expands the conversation broadly to include Social and Emotional Life Skills,
in order to enlighten and uplift both kids and their grown-ups. It encourages both children and
adults to engage in open and honest conversations and activities while laughing and learning.
